Current Exhibitions
Downstairs, in the main public gallery area of the Salem Convention Center, a collection of expansive paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media artworks by various Oregon artists are on display. Newly acquired paintings by Robert Bibler and Richard Thompson have been added. There are also some new paintings on loan from Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Willamette University. Upstairs in the new Level 2 Gallery is an exhibition by artist Diane Beals, titled indelible, a series of photographic portraits of contemporary artists in the Salem-area. This show is accompanied by an exhibit inside Salem Public Library, also photographed by Diane Beals, showing the artists’ hands. See both exhibits through September 30, 2022.
Past Exhibitions
Beginning in 2007, we partnered with the Salem Convention Center on a series of Mayor’s Invitational exhibitions that showcased the work of area artists and enlivened that facility with the vibrancy of contemporary art. The first works of public art placed in the Convention Center were purchased from these shows and loaned from the City of Salem’s collection.
