5th Annual Mayor's Art Invitational

The 5th Annual Mayor’s Art Invitational: “Sculpture Now!” opened in 2011, and paved the way for the development of the formal Sculpture Garden in the Salem Convention Center plaza.

The exhibit featured five city-owned sculptures, plus seven others by artists throughout the Northwest. In addition to the work in the sculpture garden, seven rarely displayed paintings from the Hallie Ford Museum of Art‘s permanent collection were displayed in the lobby.

This installment of the Mayor’s Oregon Artists Series was initially open to the public for two years, but some works were purchased by the City of Salem and some loaned works remain on site today.  Sculptors were paid a $750 honorarium for the initial loan of their work.
