Flip for Art to Raise Funds for Public Art in Salem
October 16, 2017
Area art enthusiasts will have a chance to bid on a range of twice-loved fine art and craft at Flip for Art, a benefit event to support public art in Salem.
This fun-filled evening, taking place Wednesday, November 1 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Salem Convention Center, is a fundraising event for Oregon Artists Series Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to acquiring art for permanent display in downtown Salem.
Guests can bid on art and fine craft donated by local collectors, along with award-winning wines from regional vintners. Attendees can also have some fun in the flip book photo booth, making a souvenir photo flip book to take home.
“This is the second year we’ve held this event and it promises to be even more fun that the first,” said OASF board president Jim Bauer, who underscored the quality of work being auctioned. “People who have donated artwork are making room for something new, or downsizing their collection. The selection is fantastic, with a variety of local artists and styles represented, attendees will really enjoy bidding.”
Several community members will be recognized for their lasting contributions to Salem’s cultural landscape: artist Nancy Lindberg; art historian and Willamette University professor emeritus Roger Hull; and, philanthropist and historic preservationist Elisabeth Walton Potter.
Tickets are $10 per person and include generous hors d’ouevres and $10 in “Art Bucks” to use at the auction. Tickets may be purchased online at http://oregonartistsseries.com/flipforart/ or by phone at 503-589-1700.
Event sponsors are Sherman, Sherman Johnny & Hoyt, and Pioneer Trust Bank.
